How problems can make your relationship even more romantic

Friday, May 11th, 2007

It’s cool to see that Romance Tracker is starting to get listed in a few blogrolls as a site for “expert dating advice,” and I’m glad that people find the posts here helpful. There’s nothing like a little old-fashioned romance to add a much-needed spark to your relationship! But as for being an “expert,” I’m far from that. I consider myself a very lucky guy to be in a great relationship, but believe me, we aren’t without our challenges and troubles, just like every other couple! :)

In a way, though, I’m glad that we’ve had to so much diversity together, and you shouldn’t underestimate the importance of facing problems as a team, either. While making unneeded drama in your relationship is never a good thing, actually working together to overcome inevitable problems can bring you and your special someone much closer.

There’s an old saying about a broken bone healing even stronger than it was before the break . . . and the same goes for romantic relationships. If you and your significant other can face problems together as a team and work through them together, your relationship will be stronger and more stable for it. Solving problems together requires give-and-take, patience, and ingenuity, and all of those are important ingredients in building successful romantic relationships.

So don’t hope for problems in your relationship, but don’t despair when they come, either. Difficulties are unavoidable in any relationship, and if you face them with optimism that you and your partner can solve them together, you’ll set yourself up for success and solidify your romance. Remember: there are no challenges you’ll face that someone hasn’t faced before!

How about you? Are there any problems that you and your lover have faced together that made your relationship stronger in the end? Leave a comment below and share your experiences with our readers!

Call in sick to work to spend romantic time with your sweetheart

Friday, May 4th, 2007

So, when’s the last time you played hooky to spend some much-needed romantic time with your special someone?

Before you laugh, I’m not advocating that you skip work whenever you feel like snuggling with your sweetheart; part of being a good lover and a responsible partner is living up to your responsibilities and taking care of your own career. But occasionally, we all need to forget about the rest of the world for a while and concentrate on the things that mean the most to us!

It’s the truth: millions of people skip work for an endless number of reasons every day, including plain old laziness. But if you’re a hard worker and deserve a little time off, taking some much-deserved time off to spend time with your sweetie is a perfect way to recharge your batteries and add some good old-fashioned romance to your relationship. Do you show off your romance with pictures of that special someone?

Thursday, May 3rd, 2007

We’ve all known them: the coworkers or acquaintances who keep their private lives extremely private. If it weren’t for the wedding ring or water cooler chatter, you’d never know they had a significant other at all; not only do they not mention their romantic partner, but they don’t leave so much as a wallet-sized photo of the person out where anyone might see it. While it’s unlikely that these people are really ashamed of their romantic relationship, putting up a few photos of their lover would go a long way to add some old-fashioned romance to the mix.

Sure, I know that you remember what your lover looks like and don’t need a picture to remind you of how much you love them! But if you’re keeping those smiling pics in your purse or wallet and aren’t displaying them in your office or other places where you spend a lot of time, you’re missing a chance to improve your relationship significantly. Why you should save romantic souveniers from your relationship

Tuesday, May 1st, 2007

Some people are packrats by nature. I’m sure all of us have a relative who saves every last button and piece of string they come across for fear that they might need it someday! And believe it or not, when it comes to adding some good old-fashioned romance to your relationship, being a bit of a packrat can actually come in handy.

Saving souveniers and keepsakes from romantic times you share with your significant other is a great way to keep a sort of physical journal of your relationship and have fun reminiscing in the future. You may not realize it, but there are tons of small, easily kept items that you and your lover probably come across every month that would make great romantic souveniers. (more…)

For a more romantic relationship, don’t keep score; lead by example!

Monday, April 23rd, 2007

It’s a given that making an effort to add as much good old-fashioned romance to your relationship as possible will make your life with your significant other more rewarding, exciting and fulfilling. If you’re interested in building a better relationship with your lover and making their happiness the number one priority in your life, you’d be nuts not to make an effort to add more romantic gestures, acts and thinking to the mix. And if you and your sweetheart are both interested in being as romantic as possible, it might be fun to try to out-do each other when it comes to romance and showing your love.

But if you’ve recently discovered how addicting it is to be romantic with your partner, it’s easy to get upset if your lover isn’t as enthusiastic about old-fashioned romance as you are right away. You’re excited about adding a bunch of new romantic ideas to your daily lives and making your relationships more fulfilling, so why can’t they be? Sure, it’s understandable that you’d want your significant other to do as many romantic things as you’re doing, but keeping score on who’s being the most romantic in a relationships is the wrong approach. You’re the luckiest person in the world to have that special someone!

Wednesday, April 18th, 2007

Check it out: there are about four billion guys in the world, but I know without a doubt that I’m the luckiest out of all of them.  How can I be so sure?  Easy: because I have a special person in my life who makes me feel like the luckiest person in the world.  And even if I won a million dollars or dodged a hail of bullets, I know I’ll never be more fortunate than I was the day I met her.

But just because I’m the luckiest person in the world doesn’t mean you can’t be, too.  How is that possible?  Easy: because being loved by that special someone makes you the luckiest person in the world . . . no matter how many other people already hold the title! (more…)
